THE LOCKDOWN

The Lockdown Day 9

You know, I’ve been watching the Government and the CDC spin their wheels trying to figure out what is going on with this COVID-19 pandemic.  Now, early on, when we started seeing the number of cases and deaths rising, even doubling every few days, in this country, we saw this Anthony Fauci guy spew new and inconsistent information as he stood right next to Trump and listened to HIM negate everything Fauci just announced.  First thought was, “Do these bozos NOT touch base BEFORE they stand at the podium?”  I swear to God it has got to be the most frustrating, irritating and stressful job to work with, translate, fix and babysit Trump and everything that oozes out of his ignorant mouth.

However, today I realized something.  Anthony Fauci was part of the team in the US that first worked on the HIV virus epidemic in the early 80s.  Normally, I would think that was a good thing.  But, if you know anything at all about how the US handle the HIV outbreak, he was part of the problem, not the solution.  In fact, Fauci was threatened and picketed frequently through the HIV epidemic research because of the way it was being touted as first the Gay Man’s Plague or Cancer, then they just called it The Gay Cancer until they had absolute proof about 3-4 years into research that it can infect ANYBODY.  IDIOTS.  How unreasonable and irresponsible to assign a new unknown virus to an entire group of people JUST BECAUSE of their lifestyle.   Shame on you, Fauci, and your “colleagues”.   With all that overpriced education you would have thought they would have taught you some common sense, humility, humanity.  Aren’t doctors supposed to care about EVERYONE???  The biggest issue though, was that it took over 3 years for the government, the CDC and other top healthcare and disease control centers to even truly warn the American public about the HIV virus.   3 years???  Oh, AND, we didn’t even figure it out, the French did.

Now, this same jackhole is in charge of the COVID-19 epidemic in this country.   Okay, so let me put it this way…

Let’s say you’re at the airport.  You get on a plane to fly from here to there.  That first flight was an absolute clusterf!%k.   The  pilot wasn’t licensed, he was also drunk  and high on cocaine, there was no copilot,  you had no  flight  attendants and when you landed  you find out that your luggage fell out of the plane IN AIR somewhere between point  A and point B and they are very sorry but they have no idea where.

So, your trip is over and you have the option of either A) going back to the airport and going through all that shit again OR, option B) you can rent a car and drive home safely with all your shit.

Now before you make a decision, know that your first flight represents how the country and the CDC handled the HIV virus.  It took them FIVE YEARS to be HONEST with the country, admit it existed and offer treatment. Your return flight represents NOW.  Okay?  You already know the same people are in charge and flying this beast.

So, you hopping on that plane or no?  Remember.  Keep in mind that the moron flying the plane doesn’t give two shits about your safety, couldn’t care less if you know the truth about the plane’s condition or the lack of ability of the pilot himself.  He’s not going to tell you he graduated at the bottom of his class, had to take his pilot’s test 12 times and consistently fails his requalification training and has to retest multiple times just to keep his job.  He’s also not going to tell you he’s been up for 8 days on cocaine and is now hallucinating huge green and purple flying monsters with 13 eyes and 7 heads and he believes they are trying to eat his brains through the windshield of the plane.

Let’s fly!!!!

Yeah...NO.

It’s really hard to trust a government that has admittedly lied to the American people every time there has been a crisis since the original Bush administration.  Seven weeks ago, we were at 3.5% unemployment, 3% wage growth, record high in the DOW Jones, record highs in employment and record highs in consumerism.  In just 7 short weeks, our entire economy which is 80% based on consumerism, is now experiencing record lows, like the DOW having the lowest first quarter in the history of this nation.

Could that  be because, just like with the  HIV epidemic, our government tried to minimize and sugarcoat things, lie about severity and contraction and allowed the virus to spread at colossal rates because they didn’t  want to stand  in front  of their  constituents and say the most feared words a politician could ever utter…”We. Don’t. Know.”????  Just a thought.

Funny thing is, Americans aren’t looking for a miracle, they turn to religion and faith for that, not government.  Americans want truth.  Americans want answers.  REAL answers.  Not this bullshit that changes every 15 seconds. There’s no real information to go on and THAT is what causes panic ladies and gentlemen, fear.   Fear of the unknown.  And for some reason, politicians can’t take responsibility and say to the ones that voted for them, “Hey, we aren’t sure yet, we don’t know what is going on, we don’t want to give you false information, we know it’s bad, please don’t panic, these are the precautions you need to take to LIVE AND SURVIVE until we figure this out.”

But, moving on.  I’ve been watching the news and people in my area.   And this “every man for himself” thing is becoming worrisome. It reminded me of something my Mom told me about two different times in my life.  And this will show just how much times changed between the two instances.

Here is the situation she presented to me and asked what I would do:

You and your neighbor both have six-month-old babies.  You are very good friends.  As long as you’ve lived next to each other you have always helped each other out.  If she needs a bag of sugar, you give it to her.  If you need a bottle of milk, she gives it to you.  No tab is kept.  No tally to keep things equal.  Simply one friend and neighbor helping the other.

But then we hit hard economic times. Like now.  And every bit of everything you have, YOU need.  And yet, you can still figure out a way to make things stretch and work. Water down milk and juice, stretch meals with starches and beans, etc.

But, then both of your babies get sick.  And this is where we find out what kind of people we really are.

You have a choice.  You only have one can of formula, milk, whatever, to feed your sick baby.  Your baby, just like your neighbor’s baby, needs the FULL can in order to get well.  Your neighbor comes to you begging, crying for you to share.  If you split it, both babies will get some food, but both will remain sick.  If you keep it all for your own baby, your neighbor’s baby WILL die.  You don’t have any more formula and you don’t know when you will be able to get more.

What do you do?

… … … …

The first time my mother asked me that it was in the mid to late 1990s.  At THAT point, she said share it.

Fast forward to the second time it was presented to me in the mid 2010s, she said you keep it all for your own baby, because your family and your children come first.

Same woman.  Two different times in the country.  Two different times in life.  Two very different answers.

And now, in these critical times, I can almost guarantee you that the majority of people in this country would let their neighbor’s baby die.  They’d probably send a card or flowers after, attend the funeral service, all the while holding their baby.  The attitude of the American public has changed.  We are NOT the same country that we were during WWII when we willingly band together to sacrifice for the good of the nation, for the very survival of the nation.  Now…we’re just people.  We’re not Americans by ideal anymore, only by nationality and location.

Things are getting scary out there, folks.  Death tolls are rising, doubling in a matter of days.  Pleases.  I implore you.  Protect yourselves and your loved ones.  This WILL protect others.  You WILL be doing what is truly right.  Every so often as a nation, we have to come together as a people, as a united front, in order to survive.  This is not only needed now to protect our nation but to protect mankind.  Overall, we are a good species, a contributing species.  Yes, we can get carried away by the traits and desires that make us human.  But at our core, we are good.  Let’s try to act that way, shall we?  Be kind to your neighbors.  Call and check on friends and family.  Maintain distance if you MUST go out in public.  And for all that is holy, if you and another person go to pick up the last of an item on the grocery store shelf, give it to them.  There IS MORE COMING.  It would be so much nicer to hear about people arguing over tying to get each other to TAKE the item, rather than hear about people mauling each other FOR the item.  Don’t treat people working like shit.  You wouldn’t have your essential services and items if it wasn’t for them.  Be appreciative of the front-line workers risking their lives to help you.  They are doing the job you really wouldn’t want to do right now anyway, aren’t they?  Thank your doctor.  Thank your delivery people.   Thank the cashier at the grocery store, your pharmacist, your homecare personnel.  Thank friends and family for staying away.  If you are one of the ones that is still able to work, be thankful you still have a paycheck.

Be kind.   Be humble.    Be thankful.  There’s a lot to complain about.  That inspires no one.  That fixes nothing.   Remember, it’s not about who’s to blame, it’s about who’s going to fix it.  And right now, honestly, that is in OUR hands.  So, be smart and be a fixer.

Thanks for reading!  Stay safe, stay healthy and stay tuned!!!!!
